Region - FOLGARIA, LAVARONE A LUSERNA
Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna in the south-eastern part of the Trentino region. With the area of 105 km2, the three alpine table-lands are situated in the mountains between the Adige and Brenta Rivers in the wooded vast area where traditional legends and myths with a mystical Nordic touch are up to this date connected with centuries-old forestry, farming and pasture activities undertaken in these mountains since long ago.
This country, a border territory for centuries, as well as all of these mountains bear signs and witness of most ancient and recent events, starting from the ancient epic of the Cimbro-German settlers to the medieval battle of the Noble Community against feudal power to defend their independence; from the first localities of Habsburg monarchy in the Belle Epoque to the World War I, an epoch-making event that resulted in a dramatic transfer of this region from Austria to Italy. The remains of the seven former Austro-Hungarian fortifications, all settled along an almost thirty-kilometer line between Cima Vezzena and the Serrada Relieves, are offered as unique tourist attractions: routes that used to serve as military roads are now used by tourists as interesting nature trails one can take by foot, on horseback or mountain bike.
Tailored hotel and other accommodation structures (70 hotels and 5 residences), congress centres, swimming pools, fit centres, golf course in Costa, Lake Lavarone, the total of 72 km ski tracks joining in one ski hub - Skitour dei Forti - that all ranges among the most frequently visited locations of this Alpine region; tracks suitable for rides on horseback or mountain bike (among others, an international race is held here and there is a permanent mountain bike track 100 km dei Forti, trails of all difficulty levels (from normal walks to climbing hikes), including the Nordic Walking Park; that all is only an outline of the whole range of local tourist capacities, whose aim is to offer their guests an all-inclusive holiday, during which relaxation, sport, local natural environment perception and cultural experiences will be in unique balance with the quality offered.
Through the table land on skis: Skitour dei Forti
Only 18 km from the Rovereto Nord Motorway exit (Motorway A22 Brenner Pass), the Folgaria and Lavarone table lands with their Ski tour dei Forti ski hub present a top-class skiing structure in the south-eastern part of the North Italian region Trentino: there are 72 km of ski tracks and slopes, where snow cover is always guaranteed. They are serviced by four-seater ski lifts of the last generation (including the new four-seater lift from Costa to Dos de la Moreta) that will, thanks to their capacity of 42,000 people per hour, take you to perfectly treated slopes, always without queues and without waiting due to the Key Card System. On the top, you will see a wide panorama of views of a part of Dolomiti del Brenta to the Pasubio massif, from Adamello range summits to Marmolada.
The slopes like Ortesino, Toll di Serrada and the historical Salizzona di Fondo Grande are the pride of the entire local ski area; in the first place, it is to mention the Salizzona slope, known to the general public as a track where the Christmas Parallel Slalom was held in the three past seasons. This significant event on the beautiful Folgaria race track was featured by the greatest personalities of the "Azure Avalanche" as well as of the international skiing such as Alberto Tomba and Christian Ghedina, Karen Putzer and Deborah Compagnoni.
Folgaria, Lavarone a Luserna, table-lands of the Trenta region, are also known for their excellent facilities for Nordic skiing disciplines. Very well-equipped ski centres are situated here: the recently renovated and re-equipped Passo Coe cross-country skiing centre in Folgaria, where the Master World Cup took place in 1997 (with participants from 27 countries), the Millegrobbe cross-country skiing centre in Lavarone, where a cross-country marathon of the same name is organized for more than twenty years, and the Forte Cherle cross-country skiing centre in Fiorentini in the middle of the beautiful and suggestive alpine landscape.
